Well, 2002 pretty much sucked: Impending wars, snipers, corporate scandals, rising unemployment, being abducted by aliens... oh, that must've just been a dream I had. To account for the crappiness, I've found myself being tormented by the online shopping gods instead, spending too much money on DVDs and performance parts for my car. Kind of makes up for the inadequate amount of emotional connections I've (not) had to deal with throughout the year. Sad, eh? Maybe I should start doing yoga or something...

Now I know I'm not the smartest kid on the block, but this video is just too funny.

I hate it when I have a really sucky song stuck in my head. Today's offender happens to be 'Yah Mo B There' (sic) by Michael McDonald and James Ingram. I think I must be going insane.

A big thank you goes out to the remnants of Typhoon Pongsona that hit the Bay Area this weekend and decided to flood the deck of my apartment so the water leaked into the apartment downstairs, and also kindly broke a window at about 12am which then had to patched up while the gales continued to lash.

I received one of those unexpected rolls back from York Photo where you're not quite sure what the pictures are going to be until you open the envelope. Surprisingly enough, there were some keepers in there.

What else is there to do when there's a power failure but take photos?

Priscilla and Paddy, your President salutes you.

If you look really closely, you may even spot some horses.

The excitement never ceased at the San Carlos Arts & Crafts Fair.

Bad hair day?

One for the Mirror Project perhaps?

Erm... dogleg.

This being a car-themed month (kind of) I though this Quicktime movie spoof commercial was pretty funny.

Being someone who likes to go out and about shooting photos whenever and wherever I can (especially in public) reading this story got me nervous. Even though I can't vouch for its authenticity, and it has an air of 'hoaxness' about it, it's still an interesting read. There's a follow up to the original article here.

So I finally got to see Donnie Darko last night. It's one of those movies that received a lot of those "you'll either love it or hate it" kind of reactions, but I must admit, I'm not sure whether I felt either of those sentiments. However, it is definitely an intriguing film, and it reminded me a little of all those great Brat Pack movies of the '80s, but with many more interesting ideas. It's a little ambiguous perhaps, but it's beautifully filmed, well acted, has some fine perfomances, and some good humor and pop culture references throughout. I think I'm just going to have to watch it again... I've got a feeling it's going to grow on me. I find it interesting that while the critics pretty much slammed it, regular movie-goers out there got a lot more out of the movie.

Now that's what I call an unfortunate name.

Update 01/09/03: Notice how that link is dead now? Very interesting... I checked the site again a month later and her bio is here, and it just ain't that funny any more. Ivana Mandic is now, sadly, just plain old Ivi Mandic.

I swear, I go through wing mirrors quicker than most people go through, erm, hot dinners. Last April I managed to rip my passenger side mirror off because I backed away from a very narrow parking spot too quickly and hit a pole (doh). This month, some idiot on a motorcyle decided to drive by my car, obliterate his own mirror, and bust my driver's side one in the process. And drive away of course without stopping. I'm now determined to go through 2003 without having to replace a single mirror.
