Icky rainy wet weather day. Glad I got to stay indoors.

In true Sesame Street fashion, the major news of 2003 has been brought to you by the letter S: Saddam, Schwarzenegger, SARS, space shuttle, shiites, suicide bombers, Soham, stampedes, sniper trials, shock and awe, Sobig, and Strom Thurmond. There's a bunch more stuff that happened of course, but they didn't necessarily begin with S.

Once again, Miss P looking grand and elegant as usual.

Reflection? Refraction? Looks like even my bathroom has entered the Christmas spirit.

A dramatic rainbow over the Sunnyvale Baylands.

12/22/03

One of those days when I felt like curling up and hiding like a snail.

All I want for Chrimble are these cute Yahoo! Bears.

12/18/03

Mmm... chilis...

12/17/03

Today I finally got close enough to the burrowing owl for a decent shot. Isn't he the cutest? Also, here's a picture of yours truly with our fearless CEO and leader, Terry Semel.

Froggy in the sunshine.

On this vaguely historic day, one has to ask oneself:

  • Where were you when Saddam Hussein was caught? In bed, asleep.
  • Where were you when September 11th happened? In bed, asleep.
  • Where were you when Princess Diana died? In bed, asleep.
  • Where were you when Kurt Cobain died? In bed, asleep.
  • Where were you when Elvis Presley died? Most probably asleep (I was 4).
  • Where were you when JFK was shot? I wasn't even born yet.
Looks like I've had some bad luck 'being there' for the major events in my life.

Though I'm hardly the biggest Anime fan around, I found it impossible not to fall in love with Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away which I saw for the first time tonight. What a truly beautiful film, with enough to keep kids and adults thorougly enchanted throughout.

I'm not Welsh, but I sure do like the look of their dragon.

12/11/03

Nothing like a bracing walk alongside the Bay Area Trails in Sunnyvale.

12/10/03

One of our duckies is missing! No-one quite knows where duck number four disappeared to.

12/09/03

No, my LOMO has not gone into retirement just yet... it's just taking a break while I enter the wicked world of digital photography for a while.

12/08/03

Yep, it's almost that time of year. Today's photo should've been of a rare Burrowing Owl I saw on a walk on the baylands near to work, but muggins had gone out without his camera...

12/07/03

A purrrfect day for a little sunbathing.

12/06/03

Tonight was our company's Year End Party up in San Francisco, and The Flaming Lips played an exclusive live set for all the good little Yahoo! kids.

12/04/03

Is it a pterodactyl or just a pelican? Probably just a pelican, but I like to think it could be a pterodactyl.

I've deemed December to be "digital month", so I'm going to post a digital picture of something I encounter every day. Well, I know I missed a couple of days already, but I only thought of this an hour ago. So, first picture of the month is some leaves on the ground in Palo Alto, California. It still looks very autumnal along the peninsula.

Wow. Three years in the USA this month... quite amazing. And this blog stuff that no-one reads has been on here two years now. Time passes by more quickly as you get older - my dad told me that but I wasn't sure I believed him. I do now.
