01/29/04 I saw The Fog of War tonight and it's a thoroughly captivating documentary. It's a portrait of former Defence Secretary Robert McNamara, who served under both JFK and Lyndon Johnson. Set to a Philip Glass soundtrack, the music complements the war footage really well, and McNamara himself is incredibly candid in his interview. It's loosely divided into 11 chapters, each one offering a 'lesson' that McNamara learned from his life. A very articulate and intelligent movie, it deserves to be seen by leaders throughout the world and illustrates the lessons that can be learned from the Cuban Missile Crisis, World War II, and Vietnam, and how they can be applied to today's decisions to go to war. 01/27/04 Another one of those high-bandwidth, interactive Flash exploration sites, this time from artist Olivier Koursoumbas, but this one really is quite special. 01/25/04 Wow. The Office won two Golden Globes. I think I'm still in shock. 01/20/04 So the Laci Peterson trial is not only coming to San Mateo County, but it's very likely to be in Redwood City, and I live literally minutes from the courtrooms and downtown Broadway! That's going to be fun. The traffic is going to be horrendous, so I thought I might offer my services and make tea and sell hot dogs to the press. I was also thinking about selling some T-shirts too with the slogan "I went to the Laci Peterson trail and all I got was this lousy T-shirt". I could be onto a winner here... 01/19/04 OK, so this Saturday Night Live sketch is pretty childish, but still very funny, especially because of Robert De Niro's deadpan delivery. 01/14/04 Yes, I'm still here and all is well. I've just been lazy with my updates the past few days. Nothing much is inspiring me at this moment, and I have the winter malaise that sets in when the weather gets grey and cloudy round here. 01/06/04 I wonder if it's only going to be Londoners who find this funny? What a perfect waste of time. 01/01/04 Erm... new year... time for me to write some stuff about what happened in 2003 and what I expect from 2004 I guess. Well, actually, this new year I've decided just to reflect on the way things are right now, and deal with that. Not dwell on the past and what has happened, nor to think too much about the future and worry about that. So, I'm just "being" right now, and it feels good.
