09/27/02 The Daypop Top 40 is a great idea. It's a regularly updated list of links that are currently popular with webloggers from around the world. Got me wondering though: if enough of us link to it, will Daypop Top 40 appear in the Daypop Top 40 list? 09/25/02 A while back I got invited to submit some photos to a new group exhibit web site called Photolucid. The site has now launched and looks really cool. I feel honored to have my photos exhibited alongside some fantastic work by the other contributors. 09/19/02 My web site got mentioned in the Sydney Morning Herald! Jenny Sinclair wrote a really nice piece on various Photography Blogs, and my site and photos are discussed in the article. This came as a very unexpected suprise! 09/17/02 Larry is homeless and lives under a bridge in East Los Angeles. On the day we met him, Larry was fixing his bicycle which someone had broken. Larry has been on the streets a long time, chances are he'll never see these photographs of him. But Larry was charming, open, and friendly, and I know for sure that I'll never forget him.
09/16/02 I don't dick around with PhotoShop much, I usually just scan-in and clean up my photos, perhaps sharpen a tad if necessary, but very little else. Today though, I got back some more photos from my LA trip and this one came out horribly underexposed, but with a little creativity in PhotoShop I think it looks kind of cool and Holga-like now. Once again, the rest are under August on the Lomo Photos page, and there'll be some new ones tomorrow. 09/15/02 If I had something worth writing I would... but things have been fairly quiet and uneventful for me of late. The only thrill for me recently was test driving a 6-speed 170bhp highly-tuned SVT Focus - and it was quite the adrenalin rush, especially in the handling department. For now though, it merely remains on the 'wanted' list. 09/08/02 Got a couple of rolls back from my travels in Los Angeles. Most of the photos really suck - I think my Lomo batteries must be dying because a lot were under-exposed. Still, there was a handful of semi-decent ones, and they're on the Lomo Photos page under August. It's got me worried about how the next two rolls are going to turn out now... 09/04/02 Here are some more random Lomo shots: This one's from George Segal's haunting Holocaust Memorial at the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. Not 100% certain, but I think this and this are in Terminal 1 at SFO. Groovy, eh? Music for Airports. More travelator joy. 09/02/02 <begin tech talk> So I took the plunge and downloaded Netscape 7.0 (Macintosh version) and I've got to say I'm pretty damn impressed. It seems fast and stable so far, and is doing a better job than Mac Internet Explorer 5.1 which I like a lot, but sometimes seems sluggish. The whole AOL thing doesn't interfere that much (perhaps it's worse on a Windows machine), and the Tab Browsing stuff is cool (but blatantly nicked from Opera). There's a little text file Mac users should download if they choose to switch to Netscape 7.0. This should be saved to disk, then dragged onto the Netscape icon - hey presto, it restores the cool Mozilla pop-up window blocker functionality so you can surf free of annoying ads! </end tech talk> 09/01/02 Digging through my stuff I found this photo taken with the Canon QL17 quite a while a go. I'd forgotten all about it and never got round to scanning it in, but I like it quite a lot.
So what's the deal with this month's photo? Perhaps only my closest friends will find it funny, but if you've ever had the misfortune of seeing Kevin Spacey sing John Lennon's Mind Games at a live tribute concert, you'd be laughing too.
